The Ray Moulsdale Memorial Snooker Day

Ray Moulsdale : The Man

box

Ray Moulsdale was a good friend of many members of The Aviat Club. He served on the comittee as Secretary for a couple of years but was also a stalwart of the Air Con Bar where he loved to come and talk with his mates over a cold stubby, sharing a joke and often a game of snooker.

He was well known as one of the games fairest players and would encourage and assist those who were new to the game

He played B Grade and occasionally A Grade Snooker, but was always modest about his success. Basically he was a good bloke, without any enemies and everyone enjoyed being in his company.Tragically, he died very suddenly from diabetes in June 2004.

The Ray Moulsdale Memorial Snooker Competition was the brainchild of current Club President Gavin Powell and has been well supported since it commenced in October 2004. There are shields on display showing the names of all winners of the competition since inception. A new shield is updated each year with the names of the subsequent winners. There is no fee charged to play ihn the competition, simply come and enjoy yourself and have a laugh. The games are always doubles with seeded players teamed with unseeded players.
